6/6/73 passaic: show opens with 1st circulating ROANOKE, bill monroe instrumental workout. “here’s a tune that was written in passaic, new jersey,” hometown dawg david grisman intros CEDAR HILL, written as a teenage mando-slinger. double- action when tex logan joins at the end of the 1st set, all debuts, including monroe’s UNCLE PEN (entering rotation) & MONROE’S HORNPIPE (only time), plus traditional BILLY IN THE LOW GROUND (which will pop up again) & COTTON EYED JOE (which won’t).
