@dave_heumann Curious what you recommend to someone who is interested, but has no idea where to start?
@brucy The main thing I'd recommend is to find a qualified instructor. None of it can be properly learned solely from videos or books. What area are you in? I can ask my people if they know of instructors near you, possibly ones that are part of our lineage.
My teachers' teacher is Grandmaster Sam Tam, based in Vancouver BC. The style is Yang style, similar to what was taught by Cheng Man-Ching.
@dave_heumann I'm in Boston, and that's perfect. It didn't seem like a learning from YouTube idea, so I appreciate it. I'll do some looking with the lineage info too. Thanks much
@brucy Sure thing! I've put word in to one of my instructors (the people I study with are a married couple) and am waiting to hear back.
@dave_heumann Great, appreciate it very much
@brucy I talked to my one teacher today and he didn't know anyone in Boston. However, this school/teacher looks good. His style looks quite different than what I practice, but he has the fundamental principles down. Plus I like that he's a musician.

@dave_heumann That's a plus. Thanks for the tenth time, I'll check it out!
