The good news is, my #bassguitar #pedalboard is smaller, and will definitely fit. This is my current plan for the next generation of my hybrid analogue/digital #bass board, which is only 350 x 200 mm (Miracle Thaw), and it's more likely I'll be flying for bass gigs:
Is there such a thing as your sense of tone being slightly out, analogous to short/long sightedness? Playing with a fretless without looking at the neck, and while I'm getting better I'm consistently slightly sharp if I'm not playing something with open strings. #bassGuitar
Putting it out there to my fellow #bass players. Any tips or lessons you’d recommend to a beginner bass noob, like me? I’ve been playing a bit of 4 string electric #bassguitar after playing guitar for most of my life. I’ve got a little bit of music theory know how, but I’m interested to get into the bass zone.
I’ll also tag the #GearSquad since I’ve been playing a basic Fender precision but I’d love to know more about the instrument, in general too or if any models make more sense.
I finished my class assignments early so I mucked about with #ProTools and the ridiculously huge set of expensive plugins we have at our disposal at the classroom and did a ridiculously self-indulgent mix of "Complicated Signal Path," one of the first musical things I ever made and shared. It was sort of #LoFi because I didn't know how to be not-minimalist and employs #BassGuitar even for the rhythm guitar part because that's all I owned.
This new mix is kinda fun.
And yes, I should work up to playing things just from memory and by ear but...
...baby steps. I'm getting old, dammit!
Fediverse bass players:
What's your process/tools for tabs notation? I'm dissatisfied with a lot of the tabs I find online (duh) & want to do more of my own tabs.
I suppose pencil & paper's probably the place to start
But any suggestions? I want to do proper notation (see ) not just text-based tabs.
I've used musescore but they've gone completely commercial now?
Suggestions? & boosts appreciated.

The only time I ever went out on #BlackFriday was to drive an hour to the Guitar Center in Tucson back in 2019 to pick up a used #SansAmp Programmable Bass Driver DI.
Worth it.
Time to update the pinned intro.

In addition to #BassGuitar, I play with #ReaperDAW, #Inkscape, and #Debian with varying degrees of success.

The Citroën Ami is representative of the only type of motor vehicle I can see myself driving in the future. It's classified as a #quadricycle in the EU and is limited to 45 kmh (28 mph) and has a 75 km (45 mi) range. So long as I can fit a #bassguitar in a gig bag, a 24x14x9" rollaboard suitcase, and a 18x14x8" underseat personal item as cargo, it would fulfill virtually all my year-round transportation needs. It's not available in the US, and probably never will be. #EV #NEV #urbanism
Is there a difference between a 'bass player' and a 'bassist'?
If so, why? Or is it just a label?

Utility service pedestal with one side dedicated to musician PHIL LESH, who passed away October 25, 2024 (aged 84)
This tired-looking and defaced artwork seems like it was produced in 2012. It is unclear when the sheet of paper was added with Lesh's photo.
