Stoney Takes

Sucka Free Sunday! someone tell Charlie and Scott that was an ice five tease after the Tweezer tease in ocean sings. So it can go down in the permanent record.

@chris @Stoneycase @phishnet Ice V? Still need a timing of a purported tease of it in the LivePhish “tweezer” track

@Cdirksen @Stoneycase @phishnet I believe that's what he's referring to. I don't know about the tease though

@chris @Stoneycase @phishnet yeah I hear it, the chords by trey around 40 seconds into the Tweezer track have an Ice V feel to be sure but this is a “ajamakinto” situation no way we’d call that a tease. It’s not a musical quote which is what Scott insists on these days. I removed the FOTM tease from 12/31/95’s Drowned because it’s not a musical quote even tho Imo Trey and Fish obviously tease it before Lizards begins. Obviously. But it’s no musical quote (or everyone would hear it)

@Cdirksen @chris @phishnet I can live with “Ice V Feel” and consider this Toot, part of the permanent record. Thanks Charlie! 🍻

@LostReflector @chopaganda @ry_storm @Cdirksen @chris @Stoneycase @phishnet if someone can get this in front of Taper's Choice they'll have a song by that name ready for the next shows I bet. Maybe like a circles around the sun style jam that sounds simultaneously derivative of every other guitar band without directly copping licks

@LostReflector @chopaganda @ry_storm @Cdirksen @chris @Stoneycase @phishnet truly, not the jam band we want or need, but the jam band we deserve

@ry_storm @chopaganda @chris @Stoneycase @phishnet “coincidental chord progression” covers what people with ears who are only partially hard of hearing mistake for a tease (musical quote) of a song (especially fucking Paradise City (!)), but “ajamakinto” covers improv with similar or identical chord progressions OR meter/rhythm/tempo bpm (eg purported Manteca tease) OR harmonic-timbre-soundscapes OR ????, eg the 12/2/95 Tweezer (arguably) contains an ajamakinto Antelope at one point

@Cdirksen @chopaganda @chris @Stoneycase @phishnet yeah we just call them CCPs it means the same thing - something that’s ALMOST a tease but isn’t
