If I could afford it I would only collect OG records, and while still mostly gravitate toward them, the reissues are done so well they are hard to pass up as gap fillers. Love this one. What a lineup and session. @vinylrecords

@caravan @vinylrecords I agree. The #TonePoet and Classic vinyl reissues are great! I'd add #ctirecords in when I can find them, and I'm happy!

@caravan @vinylrecords

If only Impulse! had as good a reissue program.

@icastico @caravan @vinylrecords Acoustic Sounds are currently putting out a bunch of Impulse records (if you’ve not yet come across them).

They tend to go with the more conservative issues (the reissue series is curated by Chad Kassam who is definitely not into avant-garde/free jazz). But they did put out Karma (by Pharaoh Sanders) and a couple of Alice Coltrane records - and so there is hope, should that be your thing :)

@AndyT @caravan @vinylrecords

Good to know.
Hope it includes Attica Blues

@caravan @vinylrecords I genuinely love the Tone Poet series - The Cooker by Lee Morgan is just one of my favourite records. Even with the hike, they represent solid value.

I don’t have Mr Natural, but it’s on my list. I’ll have o look that up pronto.

The Blue Note Classics are not quite as premium (cheaper card jackets, etc.) - but they are also still quite a steal.

@AndyT yeah, the BN classics sound great as well. It’s hard to pass up that value for a clean copy. I have a fair amount of originals, but none that are better than VG+ and most are VG- so happy to have the BN Classics and for sure the Tone Poets. Also nice to have stereo versions as well, all of my originals are mono. They’ve done a great job with both series.
