Land managers in the west, all the way to Washington DC, engaged in decades long pilfering of resources. Cut and run logging. Herbicides. Genetically modified super trees (epic failure). Destroying watersheds, forests and rivers along the way. Never any funds for forest health. No money to mitigate damage or prevention. Now an open checkbook to dump cash on the inevitable fires.
