@TheWarOnCars I keep coming back to this idea for an advert.
Cars ≠ Freedom.
Being forced to sit in a metal box, pay some billionaire for gas, be spied on everywhere you go, breath in poisonous fumes, need to carry an ID at all time.... #TheWarOnCars
I almost skipped this episode @TheWarOnCars
Glad I didn't. You all riffed off each other so wonderfully it was hilarious. Almost worth listening to just for Sarah's take down of the Jeep advert. #TheWarOnCars

> Car ads, especially those that air during the Super Bowl, typically promote driving as something that enables freedom and promotes patriotism.
It's our CXLIVth episode! Rollie Williams (Climate Town) and Nicole Conlan (The Climate Denier's Playbook, The Daily Show) join us to discuss the car ads on the Super Bowl, Kendrick's amazing halftime show, and a lot more.
We've got a new Patreon bonus episode out, about a weird old book called "The Romance of the Automobile Industry." Published in 1916, it's propaganda for car dependence, primarily to increase wealth and bolster the elite. And, yes, we get into the whole "eugenics" thing.

What are the stakes as we go from Amtrak Joe and DOT Secy Buttigieg to an administration made up of oil barrels disguised as people?
We asked Dani Simons, who led US DOT's office of public affairs, about the Biden legacy and how to survive the next 4 years.

Periodically some people call for cyclists to pay “road tax” saying that they contribute to wear on the roads etc. so should pay towards maintenance.
As I understand it the amount of wear a vehicle causes varies based on the fourth power of the axle weight.
So if I’ve got my sums right, having a charge of a pound a month for a bicycle, and taxing motorists in direct proportion to difference in damage done to road could look something like this…

Cities and Fashion with Derek Guy, the Menswear Guy
How do dense, walkable cities influence what people wear? Otherwise known as The Menswear Guy, Derek Guy rose to fame on social media for his takes on men's fashion. He also dips his toes into urbanism from time to time, arguing that the ecosystems that support quality craftsmanship and expert tailoring are strongest in places where it's easy to get around without a car.

Transit Windsor is an insulting mess from top to bottom. Nothing runs often enough, nothing runs efficiently enough, and it costs far too much for the users.
We need to completely overhaul Transit in this city, to achieve better routes, 24/7 frequent service, and free admission.
If Albuquerque New Mexico can offer free transit, if other cities in Ontario can offer free transit, Windsor can.
We won't, because all our municipal politicians are grifters.

We dropped an extra episode today. It's our reaction to the election. Things are tough, but there are some points of hope that can help us make our way forward when it comes to improving transit, making our streets safer, and building more resilient communities.

NEW EPISODE!
"Cars Are Done" with Adam McKay.
We talk with the Academy Award–winning screenwriter, director, and producer about the existential anxiety that led him to write and direct "Don’t Look Up." Plus: Adam's relationship with driving, the power of visual storytelling, and why he thinks the age of the car is already over… even if most people don’t know it yet.

If the municipal government of #WindsorON #YQG wasn't such a grifting, regressive, goon-fest, Windsor would have had free public transit a long time ago.
