Anyone else distracted by the awful music supervision in #Netflix1899?
The White Rabbit title sequence is bad enough but ending each episode with a worn out classic rock track is a total vibe killer.
@theheatwarps new music in an old movie/tv show is a tough trick to pull off. Marie Antoinette & Knight's Tale pulled if off but I can't quite see a Western pulling it off. Westworld did a cool job by playing Radiohead on a player piano roll, now THAT was inspired.
@QueenCityJamz Westworld is a great example of how to pull off that juxtaposition. I also just finished Atlanta, which is pretty much the gold standard, so my expectations are high.
@theheatwarps finally went all-in w/Atlanta earlier this yr and I was BLOWN AWAY by how good it is.
I've watched way more tv than I'd care to admit, so I'm a skeptical mfer abt shows. Atlanta went beyond what I assumed it was.
Saving the final episode like Miles holding onto his Chateau Cheval Blanc in Sideways,
@QueenCityJamz oh man, you’re in for a treat. The finale is
@theheatwarps I wish they would just stick with an original score. For the most part I really dig the weird electro-acoustic stuff that makes up the soundscape.
@drummmerandy yeah, the fact that the score is solid makes those classic rock jams so out of place.
@theheatwarps the classic rock tracks have nothing to do with the content, feel, or vibe of the rest of the show. The music supervisor on the show should consider other work.
